Azim Premji Scholarship 2025
New Delhi, September 29, 2025 The Azim Premji Foundation has reopened doors for prospects with its Azim Premji Scholarship 2025 and the deadline to apply is fast approaching. According to the foundation’s official announcement applications must be submitted by 30 September 2025.
The 2025 edition of the scholarship is part of a bold expansion plan. This year the foundation plans to support 2.5 lakh (250,000) girl students across 18 states under the scheme. In total over a period of three years the fund allocated for this effort is pegged at ₹2,250 crore.
The scholarship is aimed specifically at girls from economically disadvantaged families who studied in government schools and now seek entry into undergraduate degree or diploma courses. To be eligible the candidate must have passed Class 10 and Class 12 from a government school and have gained admission in the first year (2025-26) of a recognized degree or diploma course.
Each selected student will receive ₹30,000 per year which will be transferred directly into their bank account. The amount is intended to offset education-related costs like tuition materials and other necessities. In many reports it is mentioned that disbursements might occur in two installments (for example ₹15,000 each) depending on the year and verification.
The states covered include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand. The foundation emphasizes that both government and credible private institutions are acceptable for enrolment provided they are recognized.
To apply candidates must fill out the online application form available on the Azim Premji Foundation website (azimpremjifoundation.org). The process involves registering entering personal and academic details uploading required documents and submitting the form before the deadline. Required documents typically include Class 10 and 12 mark sheets proof of admission, government ID (Aadhar) bank account details a photo and signature. Some articles also mention the need for a bonafide certificate or tuition fee receipt.
The foundation will review the applications from October 2025 to March 2026. The first disbursement is expected by December 2025 with renewals in subsequent years (for students who continue to satisfy conditions). If students perform satisfactorily they can continue to receive the scholarship for the full duration of their course without interruption.
This year, the Azim Premji Scholarship is being implemented at scale. The scheme was piloted in the 2024–25 academic year in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, where 1.1 lakh applications were received and around 25,000 girls became eligible. With the expansion, the foundation seeks to reduce gender disparity in higher education and tackle dropout rates among girls who find it difficult to manage education expenses.
In a related development the Karnataka government has launched a parallel scheme known as the Deepika Student Scholarship in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation. This scheme will benefit over 37,000 girl students from government colleges who enroll in general, professional, or diploma programmes, providing ₹30,000/year to each. The government has promised that even if eligible applicants exceed 37,000 no deserving student will be denied the scholarship.
The scale of funding and reach make Azim Premji Scholarship 2025 one of the most ambitious educational support initiatives in recent times. It is also non-merit and non-income based the scholarship is not strictly based on grades or family income but on the student’s eligibility and need under the defined criteria. For many underprivileged girls this support may tip the balance and enable them to pursue higher education without financial strain.
As of now with just one day left before the deadline thousands of hopeful students across India are racing to complete their submissions. The foundation encourages applicants to double check all details ensure documents are correctly uploaded.
